UAB Baltic Orbis has implemented with its partners Erasmus+ project Nr. 2015-1-LT01-KA202-013501 „Jaunų europiečių programavimo įgūdžių lavinimas pasitelkus robotus“/„Coding skills development using robotics for young Europeans“.
The project involved partners from Portugal - Escola Secundária de Loulé, Latvia - Profesionālās izglītības kompetences centrs "Daugavpils Technikums", Lithuiania - Vilniaus geležinkelio transporto ir verslo paslaugų mokykla bei Elektrėnų profesinio mokymo centras.
During the project we develpoed a new programming training program using the LEGO Mindstorm EV3 robotic learning platform and the unique LEGO Education training methodology "5F" and "4C". The basic principle of this methodology is the creation of knowledge, in terms of constructivism and constructivist theories. It is learning where knowledge is not a goal but a means to achieve the goal. In classical learning, the learner learns the theory, while in the theory of constructivism the learner creates real-world objects, and knowledge is needed to reach the intended goal. Then the purpose of learning is to understand theories and learn how to apply them in practice. In the process of learning, the creation of real-world objects provides meaning to learning, because the learner not only learns to apply knowledge but also understands what needs to be learned.
A new programming curriculum has been developed, innovative teaching tools can be used to teach not only programming but also other teaching subjects, since the methodologies used make it possible to master knowledge, gain practical skills and understand teaching subjects more effectively.
